The Maxwell House Approach

Explore.

Examine.

Empower.

I use the person-centred, humanistic approach developed by Carl Rogers.  Approaches do not work the same way with every person – so we may be exploring Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which many consider a ‘quick or short’ fix, but it does receive positive reviews.  If you want to dig deeply to get to the core of those pesky and bothersome thoughts and/or behaviours, we can return to your childhood through the psychodynamic approach and examine your Family of Origin (FOO). I also incorporate Acceptance & Commitment Theory (ACT) and delve into experiential therapies. Motivational Interviewing is most beneficial and will feature highly in sessions. Our bodies do tell stories, and it is important to be in touch with how we are feeling in any given moment. We will explore those feelings throughout various consultations.

Silence

Silence is powerful.  It is not generally what is said…but what is not said between sentences.  I use silence from time to time so you can allow your words to ‘sit’ for deeper understanding.

When was the last time you sat quietly with YOUR thoughts?

Fees, Payment, Administration

Consultation fees are $132 ($120 plus GST).  Currently sessions cannot be claimed through Medicare.  There is a possibility this may change in the not-too-distant future. Payment is expected on session day by cash, debit, MasterCard, or Visa. Cards incur a service fee.

Cancellations

Life gets messy; there is no doubt about it. Appointments not kept or cancelled with less than 24-hour notice – 50% of the fee will be charged. Please attempt to cancel with as much notice as possible. Thank you for being considerate.

Seek your truth. Discover your strength. Step into your freedom.
